Today we take a little dive into the history of the Landsborough Magistrates Court, and wow, this tiny hinterland courthouse has seen some stories! It’s one of those buildings you drive past a hundred times without realising how long it’s been part of the community.

Back in the late 1800s, Landsborough was home to a Court of Petty Sessions, handling the everyday dramas of early settlement - licences, minor disputes, and all the small but essential bits of local life. Over time, these early courts evolved into the modern Magistrates Court system we know today.

The current courthouse on Caloundra Street still serves the region, quietly carrying on its role as a local hub for justice. It may not be a grand sandstone landmark, but that’s part of its charm - a simple, hardworking building that’s been woven into the Sunshine Coast’s story for generations.

It’s amazing how much history hides in small towns like this. Exploring places like Landsborough gives you a whole new appreciation for the community and the people who shaped it. Definitely one of those “look twice” local gems!
