The old Wynnum Post Office (Queensland) on Bay Terrace is one of those buildings you walk past and instantly feel the history tucked into its brickwork. Built back in the early 1920s, it once buzzed with letters, telegrams, and the clatter of a busy telephone exchange, the heart of communication for a growing bayside community. Today it stands proudly as a heritage‑listed reminder of Wynnum’s early days, still holding onto its classic interwar charm.

Step a little closer and you’ll spot the details that make it special: the solid masonry, the old porches, and that unmistakable “official building” symmetry the Postmaster‑General’s Department loved in the 1920s. It’s the kind of architecture that quietly tells a story, one of progress, connection, and a suburb finding its place on the map.

Now repurposed for modern commercial life, the building continues to serve the community in a new way while keeping its history alive. It’s a perfect example of Wynnum’s blend of old and new, and a great little landmark to appreciate next time you’re wandering along Bay Terrace.
