Step into a living postcard at Spring Bluff Railway Station!
Tucked away in a lush valley on the Main Range between Murphys Creek and Toowoomba, this heritage-listed gem is part of a railway with nearly 160 years of history - a testament to the incredible engineering feat of the steep mountain ascent.
The real showstopper is the award-winning gardens that wrap around the platform in a vibrant explosion of colour. This tradition began in 1914 under Station Master Robert Morgan, and the displays quickly became legendary in local competitions.
The station truly comes alive during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers each September, when thousands of blooms create a stunning floral backdrop against the sandstone bluffs.
You can sometimes catch special event trains from Toowoomba during the carnival (check schedules ahead), adding a touch of old-world charm to the experience.
Just a heads-up: the road down is steep and winding (no caravans), and pets aren’t permitted to help protect the gardens.
From tranquil walking trails to the sound of passing trains, Spring Bluff is a slice of Queensland heritage you won’t want to miss.
