Queensland History, Published 1 July 2026
So we asked the internet to rank the Top 10 Oldest Settlements in Queensland - and the results are in!
From historic outback towns to coastal communities that helped shape the Sunshine State, these original
settlements are packed with fascinating stories, heritage buildings, and a rich slice of Queensland history.
Have you ever visited one of Queensland’s earliest settlements? Which one was your favourite and why? We'd love to hear your stories and recommendations in the comments!
A note on our visuals: To help tell this story, we’ve used computer‑generated illustrations modelled on public domain archives. These are produced strictly for educational, non‑commercial history sharing. The Top 10 list has been compiled based on available internet search results and publicly accessible sources. While care has been taken in its preparation, it may contain inaccuracies or omissions and should be used as a general guide only.
