Public Art Spotlight: “For You” by Meg Geer – Eumundi, QLD
If you’ve visited Eumundi, you may have noticed the striking 4.5‑metre figure known as “For You”, created by local artist Meg Geer. Installed in 2018, this powerful sculpture often affectionately called “The Big Girl” stands as a moving tribute to all who have lived through the trauma of war.
Minimalist and faceless, the figure’s design is intentional: it represents innocence, gratitude, and the universal human cost of conflict. Geer’s message is that those of us who have grown up in peace owe our thanks to those who endured hardship so we could live freely.
Location: Memorial Drive, Eumundi
Artist: Meg Geer
Purpose: War memorial & public artwork
Installed: 2018
Whether you’re exploring the Eumundi Markets or wandering the town’s public art trail, this sculpture is well worth a stop. It’s a quiet, reflective moment in the heart of a vibrant community.
