If you ever find yourself cruising through the Lockyer Valley, The Floating Café in Grantham (Queensland) is one of those places you have to stop at . It’s cosy, quirky, and full of that warm country charm that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. The deck under the trees is pure magic — the kind of spot where time slows down and the coffee somehow tastes even better.
But the best part? This little café has one of the wildest backstories in Queensland. During the 2011 Grantham floods, the entire building was literally lifted off its foundations and carried downstream until it wedged itself against a jacaranda tree . Instead of giving up, the community rebuilt it, restumped it, and brought it back to life. Talk about resilience!
Today, it’s famous for hearty homemade food, giant coffees (perfect for road‑trippers and bikers), and some seriously good cakes . Whether you’re after a big brekkie, a slice of something sweet, or just a peaceful spot to unwind, this place delivers every time.
It’s the kind of café that feels like a story — one that survived, rebuilt, and kept serving the locals who love it. If you’re passing through Grantham, make it your next pit stop. Your tastebuds will thank you
