Ernest Austin was born in Victoria in 1890 and became historically significant as the last person ever executed in Queensland. In 1913, he was convicted of the murder of 11‑year‑old Ivy Mitchell and was hanged at Boggo Road Gaol on 22 September 1913. His death marked the end of capital punishment in the state, which was formally abolished in 1922. #thedavemalouchannel #ernestaustin #queenslandhistory #boggoroadgaol #australiancrimehistory
